Lutfi Zuhdi: Manama Conference Ignores the Rights of the Palestinian People

Jakarta, MINA – Chair of School of Strategic & Global Study of the University of Indonesia (UI) Dr. Muhammad Luthfi Zuhdi said that the conference organized by the United States (US) in Bahrain that talked about the Palestinians, ignored the human rights of the Palestinian people themselves.

“A program intended for the Palestinian people, but ignoring their human rights, this is really strange,” he said in a national seminar themed “Intellectual Responsibility in Supporting the Liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestinian Independence” held at the UI Salemba, Jakarta, Saturday, August, 24th.

Lutfi, who has visited Palestinian territories several times, asserted that the basic rights of the Palestinian people are independence, their freedom from Israeli occupation.

However, he stressed, the political map in the Middle East can change at any time. Politics in the Middle East is very dynamic.

The “Manama Conference” economic conference, which took place in the capital city of Bahrain, had strong Palestinian opposition from the start. The economic conference held by the Gulf States with the United States was referred to as one form of “The Deal of Century” or “Agreement of the Century” that was sparked by the United States.

This conference is part of America’s steps to play cunning on Palestinian land. That, the Aqsa mosque in the city of Jerusalem is not a place that can be sold.

Palestinians decided to reject the conference. ( L/Ast/P2)
