Indonesia Condemns Mosque Attack in New Zealand
Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno LP Marsudi, condemned the attack of Al-Noor Mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand, which took place at 1:40 pm local time, Friday.
“Whatever the motive is, in fact the act of shooting was carried out in a place of worship and it should be condemned,” Foreign Minister Retno said in a press statement in Jakarta on Friday (15/3).
Indonesia Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that there were two Indonesian citizens who were victims. Both victims are father and child. The father is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while the child is being treated in the same room at the same hospital.
“The situation update information was received by the Wellington Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) team, that there were two Indonesian citizens, fathers and children who were in the care of a Christchurch Public Hospital,” said Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Arrmanatha Nasir in an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday .
Armanatha said, the Indonesian Embassy in Wellington continued to coordinate with local authorities, Indonesian citizen groups and hospitals in Christchurch. (L/Sj/R04)
