Indonesia, Singapore Leaders to Hold Leaders Retreat

Jakarta, 16 Dzulqa’dah 1437/19 August 2016  (MINA)  – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will hold a Leaders Retreat, an annual meeting of the two countries leader, which will take place in Semarang, Central Java, on August 25.

“Singapores prime minister will be in Indonesia from August 24 to 26 for the annual Leaders Retreat,” Antara quoted Foreign Affairs Ministry Director for East Asia and the Pacific, Edi Yusuf, as saying here on Thursday.

He said the Leaders Retreat is organized alternately in Singapore and Indonesia every year as the highest bilateral mechanism between the two countries.

Through such a meeting the two leaders attempt to strengthen the friendship between the two countries.

Edi further said the Leaders Retreat this year will focus on economic cooperation.

During the visit to Indonesia, the Singaporean prime minister will be accompanied by nine ministers and 14 CEOs from Singapore, while President Jokowi will be accompanied by the ministers of economy, trade, foreign affairs, tourism, the state secretary, and the head of Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).

The two leaders are also scheduled to witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in cruise tourism between the tourism ministries of the two countries. (T/R07/R01)
