WASHINGTON DEMO CENSURES ISRAELI RAIDS ON GAZA
Washington, 5 Shawwal 1435/1 August 2014 (MINA) – A group of Americans have staged a protest rally in Washington to voice their outrage at the Israeli occupation regime’s brutal military offensive against the besieged Gaza Strip, Press TV reports.
The pro-Palestinian protesters from various faiths and backgrounds gathered outside the Israeli occupation embassy in Washington and shouted anti-Israel slogans to condemn the regime’s massacre of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The demonstrators also slammed Tel Aviv for causing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, calling for the prosecution of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Press TV quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting, Friday
Paul Verduin, one of the protesters, said that Israelis “are targeting children, women, old people [and] civilians with pinpoint accuracy.”
Marcia Coleman-Adebayo, another demonstrator, also told Press TV that world people, including Muslims, Christians and American Jews, are angered by the deaths of innocent Palestinians at the hands of Israel.
A number of protesters were detained during the rally after they reportedly defied police calls to leave the area.
Some 1,460 Palestinians, many of whom women and children, have so far been killed and over 8,400 others injured since the Israeli military first launched its offensive against the densely-populated Palestinian sliver on July 8.
Israel and the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas have agreed to an unconditional 72-hour ceasefire which took effect at 8:00 a.m. local time (0500 GMT) on Friday. (T/E01/IR)
