Stockholm, 08 Jumadil Awwal 1438/05 February 2017 (MINA) – A Swedish think tank claimed that India is frightened of Pakistan’s economic stability through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), dailytimes.com.pk reported.

According to the report titled “Silk Road Economic Belt considering security implications and the EU-China cooperation prospects”

“There is notable worry within India that China, which has had a neutral stance on the Kashmir issue since 1963, would no longer be acting as a neutral party because its economic and security interests in the territory are growing.” a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) a Sweden-based think tank said on Saturday.

India does not want China to perform as a facilitator regarding the Kashmir dispute.

It was further added that China’s involvement in the CPEC would supposedly make it a stakeholder in the Kashmir dispute and India does not want to globalize the issue.

The report also stated that India fears job creation in Pakistan would multiply after the completion of the CPEC project. (T/RS05/RS01)
