Japan Builds Additional School Classrooms for Palestinian Students

Ramallah, MINA – Japan’s Government through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) built additional school classrooms for Palestinian students in the north of West Bank.

Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador to Palestinian Affairs and Japanese Representative for Palestine, visited Farkha Village on Sunday at Salfit Governorate in the north of the West Bank to formalize the completion of the construction of those school facilities.

A grant of $89,851 has been extended to the Farkha village council to improve learning environment facilities in Farkha schools, according to a press release on Monday (24/9), Wafa reported.

The funds are used to build additional floors with four classrooms with the aim of stopping the use of old classrooms that are inappropriate and endangering students’ safety.

In his speech, Okubo emphasized Japan’s firm commitment to support the Palestinian people in terms of human security and the importance of carrying out social and economic development projects needed for the Palestinian community.

Since 1993, the Japanese Government has extended its official development assistance to the Palestinian people around $1.86 billion. The GGP project has been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through the Ministry of Finance and Planning since 2010. (T/Sj/RS5)
