Israel Killed 12 Palestinians, Injured 666 Others since Trump’s Decision

Israeli soldiers aim their weapons toward Palestinian protesters during clashes in Bethlehem.

Gaza, MINA – Twelve Palestinians have been killed and 666 others wounded since the outbreak of protests in occupied Palestinians territories against a recent US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, KUNA reported, citing the Health Ministry on Sunday.

The wounded included 487 men, 164 children and 15 women, the Palestinian Health Ministry said in a press release.

Palestinian medics came under direct firing by Israeli occupying forces during protests, it added.

US President Donald Trump had recognized in a much-anticipated announcement Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and decided to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The US president’s decision has sparked wide-scale condemnations and rejection at Arab, Islamic and international levels.

The UN General Assembly had recently adopted by an overwhelming majority a resolution rejecting the US decision on Jerusalem and demanding all countries to comply with UN Security Council resolutions regarding the status of Jerusalem.

The non-abiding resolution was adopted at an emergency meeting Thursday by a recorded vote of 128 in favor to nine against, with 35 abstentions. (T/RS5/RS1)
