Indian Ambassador to Palestine: India Firmly Supports Palestine
Ramallah, MINA – Indian Ambassador to Palestine, Anish Rajan said, India firmly supports the two-state solution, which is based on establishing an independent Palestinian state, sovereign country and the right to determine its own destiny.
“India will continue to voice the Palestinian resolution at the UN and stand at the front to voice the aspirations of Palestinians in demanding their rights,” Rajan explained in an exclusive interview with Wafa as quoted by MINA Sunday (11/04).
Rajan also said that the relation between India and Palestine has increasingly tight since India gained independence in the 1930s and one of 14 countries that voted against the division of Palestine state in 1947.
Since then, the mutual cooperation between the two countries has continued until India opened its representation in the 1990s in the Gaza Strip before moving to Ramallah.
Moreover, India has poured more than $ 40 million US for the projects construction in Palestine. “This marks a remarkable progress in relations between the two countries in the past few years,” said the Ambassador.
He also pointed out, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on his first visit to Palestine last February, several Indian aid projects, one of the biggest is the establishment of a special hospital at Beit Sahour near Bethlehem in the West Bank.
Previously, the hospital was able to provide good service in the number of patients and equipment but now the hospital has been able improved services including in the fields of cardiology, orthopedics, emergency, children, and pregnancy.
During the visit, Indian Prime Minister also announced that he would provide assistance to the “national print” project, in the form of procuring sophisticated printers that would assist the Palestinian government in funding schools and textbooks.
Another project that Rajan is talking about the assistance in the context of empowering women by strengthening the presence of women in the Palestinian community, developing vocational and industrial skills and marketing their products, which will be based in Ramallah and Gaza. (T/Sj/RS5)
