HAMAS FIGHTERS KILL ONE MORE ISRAELI OCCUPATION SOLDIER

Gaza City, 29 Ramadan 1435/27 July 2014 (MINA) – At least one more Israeli soldier has been killed near the Gaza Strip after members of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas fired a mortar shell in retaliation against the Tel Aviv regime’s relentless attacks against the blockaded coastal sliver.

On Sunday morning, the Israeli army confirmed that Reserve Sergeant First Class (Res.) Barak Refael Degorker was killed on Saturday night by a Hamas mortar shell.

Another soldier was lightly wounded in the incident, Press TV quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting, Sunday.

The latest fatality brings to 43 the official number of Israeli troops killed since the Israeli military started its ground operation in the Gaza Strip on July 8. Palestinian fighters say the death toll is higher, saying over 90 Israeli forces have been killed in the confrontation.

Top Hamas leader in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh, has vowed that the besieged Palestinian territory will turn into “a graveyard for Israeli soldiers.”

Earlier on Saturday, three Israeli soldiers were killed in attacks by Palestinian resistance fighters before a 12-hour truce took effect.

The Palestinian death toll from three weeks of Israeli strikes has reached about 1,050. At least 6,000 Palestinians have been injured in the onslaught.

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, has been launching retaliatory attacks against Israel.(T/E01/IR)
