Manila, Philippines, MINA – Filipinos can watch out for the peak of Perseids – the most spectacular meteor shower of the year – this weekend.

Weather permitting, up to 50 meteors will light up the Philippine night sky this weekend, Philstar reported, citing the state weather bureau Thursday.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the Perseids meteor shower would be observed with its peak in the late evening and early morning hours on Aug. 12 and 13.
Perseids meteor shower radiates out from the constellation Perseus, which is located in the eastern horizon during August.
August is a popular time of the year to observe meteor showers, PAGASA said.

“Meteors are easiest to observe if there is no moonlight and light pollution and a clear sky condition exist,” it said.
The best time to watch meteor showers is between midnight and dawn. (T/RS5/RS1)
