Ramallah, 09 Jumadil Awwal 1438/06 February 2017 (MINA) – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will meet with French President Francois Hollande in Paris on Tuesday, to discuss the execution of articles of the recent international Mideast peace conference.

Since France launched an initiative to sponsor the Peace Process in the Middle East, the Palestinian authority demanded forming an international committee to monitor the the process.

Speaking to KUNA on Monday, Professor of regional studies at Al-Quds University Abdulmajeed Suwailem said that France, unlike the rest of Europe, is taking a notable stance against the Israeli settlements.

He also stressed on the importance of finding means of fighting the expansion of settlements.

The Paris peace conference was held on Jauary 15 with the participation of 70 countries and international organizations. Abbas took part in the event, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahum refused to attend.

The final statement of the conference has called on Israel and Palestine to commit to the articles of the two-state solution, and avoid actions that might halt the process. (T/RS05/RS01)
