President Joko Widodo Arrives in Sydney
Sydney, MINA – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) arrives in Sydney on Friday to attend the 2018 ASEAN-Australia Special Summit on March 16-18, Antara News reported.
The Presidential Plane Indonesia 1 which carried the president and entourage landed at the Kingsford Smith International Airport in Sydney at 06.00 p.m. local time on Friday.
During the flight from Jakarta to Sydney, President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana were accompanied by Minister/State Secretary Pratikno and Chief of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Thomas Lembong.
The summit will discuss strengthening economy partnership, and eradicating terrorism in Southeast Asia and Australia.
On the summit`s sidelines, President Jokowi is also scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
Following the meeting, the president will also attend a CEO Forum, and a conference on counter terrorism.
Among the heads of state/government who are set to attend the summit are Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Australian Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha, Myanmar de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, and Cambodian Prime Minister Hunsen.
The summit which will be held at the International Convention Centre will also be attended by ministers, CEOs and small and medium entrepreneurs from Australia and ASEAN member states.
Before attending the summit, President Jokowi will have a private dinner with Prime Minister Turnbull. (T/RS5/RS1)
