Gaza, MINA – A Palestinian man was martyred on Wednesday in Khan Yunis as Israeli occupation forces continued to violate the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, launching air, ground and naval attacks across multiple areas on the first day of Ramadan, PIC reports.

Local sources said Mohannad Jamal Mohammed al-Najjar, 20, was confirmed killed near the Bani Suheila roundabout east of Khan Yunis.

Israeli artillery shelled eastern neighborhoods of Gaza City, while new demolitions of residential buildings were reported in Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza.

In the south, a series of Israeli airstrikes targeted areas in Khan Yunis and Rafah, accompanied by low-flying warplanes. Artillery units also struck eastern Khan Yunis, and Israeli tanks reportedly opened heavy fire toward eastern districts of the city.

Gaza began the holy month of Ramadan under continued daily violations since the ceasefire came into effect. Thousands of families remain in severe shortage of food and basic supplies. The United Nations previously warned that famine had spread in parts of the enclave in recent months.

According to Palestinian sources, Israeli violations since the start of the ceasefire have killed 634 Palestinians, including 195 children and 84 women, and wounded 1,630 others.

Since the beginning of Israel’s genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed more than 72,000 Palestinians and injured nearly 172,000, with more than 8,000 reported missing. Approximately 90 percent of civilian infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, with the United Nations estimating reconstruction costs at around $70 billion.[]
