Central Bank of Kuwait Stresses Islamic Conference Importance in Countering Challenges
Kuwait, MINA — Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) Dr. Mohammad Al-Hashel stressed Monday importance of the upcoming global conference on Islamic finance in countering challenges facing Islamic financing sector.
The three-day conference, slated for May 2, will shed light on the importance of Islamic finance to sustainable and inclusive growth, KUNA reported, quoting Al-Hashel in a press statement.
It will also focus on Islamic finance’s “major appeal” as a tool for “inclusiveness” and its role in the broader national economic agenda, he added.
The event, co-organized by CBK and the Islamic Financial Services Board, is expected to attract over 20 leading financial experts, senior banking officials, policy-makers as well as global rating agency and audit body representatives, he said.
Other participants will include representatives of young, emerging and advanced Islamic financial markets, in addition to Islamic financial service councils, International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation, a number of Islamic law clerics, and representatives of financial technology companies and rating agencies, Al-Hashel added.
