ISRAELI FORCES CARRY OUT DETENTION RAIDS ACROSS WEST BANK
Bethlehem, 7 Shawwal 1436/ 23 July 2015 (MINA) – Israeli forces detained at least 12 Palestinians from across the West Bank early Tuesday, locals and the Israeli army said.
Israeli forces detained Qutaiba Hamadneh from the town of Asira al-Shamaliya in northern Nablus after raiding and searching several homes there, locals said, Ma’an News Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).
Two Palestinians identified as Mutaz Azmi al-Khdour, 17, and Othman al-Manasra, 18, were detained from Bani Naim in eastern Hebron after their homes were raided and searched.
Israeli forces also detained Anan Ali al-Jaabari, 13, from the Old City of Hebron.
Locals said that Israeli forces detained three Palestinians from Farun in southern Tulkarem, without identifying them.
Arrests were also reported in Qalqiliya, Silwad, Qalandiya, Kafr Aqab and al-Eizariya.
An Israeli army spokeswoman was able to confirm 10 arrests.
She said that one Palestinian was detained in Tulkarem, one in Nablus, three in Qalqiliya, three in Ramallah, one in Bethelehem, and one in Hebron.
She said all 10 were detained for “illegal activity,” without providing further detail.
Israeli forces routinely detain Palestinians throughout the West Bank and East Jerusalem, often on the pretext of perceived security threats, and Addameer estimates that 40 percent of the Palestinian male population has been arrested at some point.
Nearly 6,000 Palestinian prisoners are currently being held in Israeli jails. (T/P010/NMT)
