2019 Indonesia Islamic Economy Festival Held in Bandung

Bandung, MINA – Indonesia Islamic Economy Festival (IIEFest) 2019 on Friday was officially held in Bandung, West Java. This event consisted of talk of halal digital industry, halal tourism, and halal industry exhibition.

IIEFest 2019 aims to introduce halal industry to community while increasing awareness to run halal lifestyle and its potential benefits to Indonesian economy.

According to PPN Minister/Head of Bappenas, Bambang Brodjonegoro who is also Secretary of Steering Committee of National Islamic Finance Committee (KNKS) said that Indonesian people spent 40 billion US dollars on the halal industry in 2017.

Meanwhile, in the past three decades, Islamic economics and finance have also expanded rapidly globally and nationally.

This year, Indonesia has also been named the best halal tourist destination in the world by Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI).

To maintain and improve this achievement, Indonesian government will encourage halal certification, improve the competence of human resources, ensure infrastructure, support information technology and regulations that are of international standard.

“Promoting a halal lifestyle is a necessity to encourage halal industry to become one of main drivers of new economic movement of sharia,” said Bambang.

According to Bambang, by strengthening the integration of tour packages, increasing awareness and love of halal products, protecting copyrights, and initiating export-oriented product innovations will get international recognition for Indonesian Islamic local content.

IIEFest exhibition itself presents a halal industry that is enlivened by industry players, regulators, millennial start-ups, MSMEs, and general public. (T/Sj/R04)
