Tel Aviv, MINA – Thousands of Israelis took to the streets across the country on Saturday, demanding urgent action from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to secure the release of hostages still held in Gaza, even if it means ending the war, Anadolu Agency reported.

According to Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth, large-scale demonstrations were held in several cities, with the central protest taking place in Tel Aviv. Families of the hostages were at the forefront, calling on the government to prioritize negotiations over continued military operations.

Protesters gathered in various regions, including Rehovot in central Israel, Haifa in the north, and Karkur Junction, expressing frustration over the government’s perceived inaction and demanding a resolution to the hostage crisis.

Despite these mounting domestic pressures and growing international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli government has continued its military campaign in Gaza. Since October 2023, over 53,900 Palestinians, most of them women and children have been killed in the ongoing Israeli offensive. []
