Makkah, MINA – Indonesian Hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia have been advised to save their energy and reduce excessive physical activity as temperatures in Makkah and Madinah have reached 42 degrees Celsius ahead of the peak of the Hajj season.
The government has asked pilgrims to maintain their health and fitness as they enter the Armuzna phase, which is known to be very energy-draining.
Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Maria Assegaff, said on Monday that physical, mental and spiritual readiness are important factors in facing the peak Hajj rituals. Pilgrims are asked not to force themselves to perform sunnah prayers outside their hotels, especially during the daytime when temperatures are at their highest.
Hajj health officers also reminded pilgrims to drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration and heatstroke. In addition, pilgrims are advised to use head protection, umbrellas, masks, and carry water spray when engaging in outdoor activities.

The appeal is especially directed at elderly pilgrims and those with underlying health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.
Extreme heat conditions have become a serious concern for Hajj authorities after many pilgrims from various countries experienced fatigue and health problems due to high temperatures in previous seasons.
The density of millions of pilgrims in the Grand Mosque area and Armuzna locations also increases the risk of physical exhaustion if pilgrims do not manage their rest patterns properly.
Meanwhile, the process of moving Indonesian pilgrims from Madinah to Makkah continues. As of mid-May 2026, more than 60,000 pilgrims have been reported to have passed through Bir Ali heading to Makkah, and the entire transfer process is expected to be completed in the coming days.

Pilgrims are asked to follow the instructions of officers to ensure their safety while performing the Hajj, especially ahead of the peak of the wukuf in Arafah, which is the core of this year’s Hajj rituals.[]
