Jakarta, MINA – A senior leader from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) is calling on Indonesians to show their support for the construction of a Mother and Child Hospital in Gaza, saying it is a concrete way to respond to the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Prof. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, who serves as MUI’s head of International Relations and Cooperation, made the appeal in Jakarta on Tuesday. He emphasized that helping Palestine is not just about solidarity but also a form of charity for Muslims.
“Every contribution, no matter how small, holds great value in the eyes of Allah and will bring real benefits to the people of Gaza, who continue to suffer under blockade and prolonged conflict,” he said.
He added that Indonesian people’s support for building this healthcare facility reflects the deep emotional and historical bond between Indonesia and Palestine. It also proves, he said, that Indonesia has never been indifferent to the suffering of the Palestinian people living under occupation.

Sudarnoto also reminded that supporting Palestine goes beyond material aid. Moral support and prayers are equally important. He urged the public to continue voicing justice for Palestine through social action, education, and humanitarian campaigns.
He expressed hope that the struggle of the Palestinian people would soon lead to independence. He also prayed that Indonesia would remain part of global efforts to fight for Palestinian rights, both through diplomacy and humanitarian action.
This call aligns with the Indonesian government’s official stance, which has consistently supported Palestinian independence in international forums. Indonesia has also been actively sending humanitarian aid, including medicine, logistics, and support for basic infrastructure in conflict-affected areas.
The Mother and Child Hospital project in Gaza is part of a broader humanitarian initiative involving various groups in Indonesia. The hospital is designed to provide medical care for pregnant women, childbirth, and children amid the ongoing emergency. It is expected to become a real symbol of Indonesian solidarity with the Palestinian people.[]
