Jakarta, MINA – Commander of the 4th Division of Japanese Naval Eskorta Ship (Japan Maritime Self Defense Force – JMSDF) Colonel Takahiro Nishiyama leads JS Samidare Warship (DDG-106) with Commander Lieutenant Colonel Gen Kawai carrying out visit honor to Jakarta, Indonesia.
The JS Samidare Warship (DD-106) docked at JICT-II Pier, Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta, Wednesday, at 9:15 a.m. local time and will depart again on Friday to return homeland.
Japanese JS Samidare warship was welcomed by a ceremony led by the Jakarta Head of Repair Maintenance Facilities Base III Marine Colonel Yudi Susilo representing the Commander of Indonesian Navy Main Base on Jakarta First Admiral TNI Denih Hendrata.
He was accompanied by Operations Assistant III Marine Colonel Hari Widjajanto, Commander of the Jakarta Lantamal III Patrol Unit Marine Colonel (P) Arya Delano and deputation forces Lantamal III Jakarta.

Marine Colonel Yudi Susilo said the arrival of JS Samidare Warship proved the proximity of Indonesia and Japan which had been friends for a long time.
“This is not the first time for Indonesian Navy (TNI) to welcome warships from the Japanese Navy. On behalf of the Navy leadership we warmly welcome to Indonesia. With spirit of friendship, let us know each other and get closer so that this visit can provide experience and memories for us, “Yudi said while giving a speech representing Danlantamal III Jakarta.
Colonel Takahiro Nishiyama explained that JS Samidare Warship departed early December 2018 to carry out the Japanese Navy Piracy Investigation Mission in the Gulf of Aden and Somalia. After the mission is completed, they will return to Japan, with prior visits to Indonesia first.
He admitted indeed there were some countries that were destination of honor visits, but Colonel Takahiro acknowledged that Indonesia was the choice of visit because Japanese Navy considered Indonesian Navy as a very important partner.

“While in Jakarta, we plan to do exercises together with Indonesian Navy. “The bilateral relations between the two countries are increasingly advancing free and open Indo-Pacific region,” said Colonel Takahiro.
“For me, this visit is the third time. First time to Jakarta 20 years ago. We see development of Jakarta far more advanced, “he said again.
While in Indonesia, Commander of the 4th Division of Japanese Navy Eskorta Ship Colonel Takahiro Nishiyama with JS Samidare Japanese Battleship Commander Lieutenant Colonel Gen Kawai and his staff will pay a courtesy visit to Pangkoarmada I and Danlantamal III Jakarta.
They will also hold a Flower Arrangement Ceremony at Jakarta Kalibata Heroes Cemetery. (TL/Sj)
