INDONESIA TO BRING THREE ISSUES IN THE UPCOMING APEC SUMMIT

Jakarta, 28 Muharram 1437/10 November 2015 (MINA) – Indonesia will strive hard to ensure that the three main issues become the subject of discussion at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit because Indonesia has proposed the topics when Indonesia led the APEC summit earlier.

Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said this when she reported to Vice President Jusuf Kalla at the Vice Presidential office here Tuesday on the preparation of the country’s participation in the two-day summit.

The three major issues that will be brought by Indonesian delegation are topics related to commodities supporting sustainable development such as palm oil, cooperation in infrastructure and maritime sectors, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) quoted Antara News as reporting.

“It is ongoing issues that we are trying to bring in the APEC since Indonesia’s leadership before. So for this time, trade minister will be more involved in various talks and meetings than me,” she said.

Retno and trade minister Lembong wil depart to Manila ahead of the vice president for a series of ministerial meeting to finalize agreements to be greed and approved to during the APEC summit.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla will lead the Indonesian delegation in the summit and at the same time makes a working visit to the Philippines until November 20. (T/R07/R01)
