Tsunami Sunda Strait: Six Affected Villages Still Untouched

Jakarta, MINA – Until the third day after the tsunami hit the Sunda Strait, six villages in Sumur District, Pandeglang District, Banten Province are still isolated and untouched by assistance.

“Not all of the affected areas can be reached, especially in the Sumur District because the access is cut off, many roads and bridges are damaged,” said the spokesman of the National Disaster Management Agency Sutopo Purwo Nugroho in Jakarta, Tuesday, as quoted from Antara News.

Actually, there are seven villages in Sumur Subdistrict but only Tamanjaya Village that has been reached by assistance.

Sutopo said the six villages namely Cigorondong, Kertajaya, Sumberjaya, Tunggajaya, Ujungjaya, and Kertamukti villages were need assistance soon.

National Disaster noted that at 01.00. p.m., the death toll of the tsunami in the Sunda Strait reached 492 people.

Meanwhile, 1,485 people were injured, 154 were missing and 16,082 people were displaced by the tsunami on Saturday night.

The tsunami affected five districts namely Pandeglang and Serang in Banten Province, and South Lampung Regency, Pesawaran and Tanggamus, Lampung Province.

From those five districts, the worst impact was experienced by Pandeglang District with 290 people died, 1,143 people injured, 77 missing and 14,395 displaced.

Then, in South Lampung Regency are108 people died, 279 injured, 9 lost and 1,373 displaced.

Meanwhile, in Serang District there were 29 people died, 62 injured, 68 lost and 83 displaced, in Pesawaran district 1 person was killed, 1 injured and 23 displaced and at Tanggamus district 1 person died. (T/Sj/P2)
