Hebron, MINA – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, on Saturday, condemned the killing of a seven-month-old Palestinian infant by Israeli occupation forces in the city of Hebron on Friday evening, according to the Palestine News Agency.
The ministry said that Israeli occupation forces deliberately and directly opened fire on a Palestinian civilian vehicle despite it being fully stopped in the Wadi al-Hariya area of Hebron, killing the infant and causing injuries of varying severity to his parents.
The ministry stressed that the killing of the infant constitutes an extrajudicial execution and a grave example of the continued targeting of Palestinian civilians, including children, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and fundamental humanitarian principles.
It added that Israel’s inclusion on the United Nations list of parties responsible for grave violations against children in armed conflict must be accompanied by effective accountability mechanisms to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.

The ministry held the Israeli government fully and directly responsible for the crime, calling on the international community, UN bodies, and relevant international courts to take immediate action to ensure accountability and provide urgent international protection for Palestinian children.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the Palestinian people from the occupation’s systematic targeting and to advancing the realization of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.[]
