MER-C RECRUITS NEW VOLUNTEERS

Jakarta , 8 Rabiul Akhir 1435/8 February 2014 (MINA) – A humanitarian organization, Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER -C) on Saturday held an event to recruit dozens of new volunteers from various professional backgrounds.

The prospective volunteers who come from various regions of Indonesia received explanation about MER-C’s  mission and vision in the event. They also received a brief training by MER-C volunteers, in its headquarters in Jakarta. So far, MER-C, an asset of Indonesian people, is lack of volunteers in several divisions.

MER-C’s presidium chairman, Dr. Henry Hidayatullah hoped, MER-C could send volunteers to all disaster areas. “The prospective volunteers come from professional doctors , students , teachers , private workers, and high school students. They can Learn how to be a good volunteer,” Henry said.

“We want the new regeneration. Next time, there will be not only the seniors , but also the new comers. MER-C has enough funds accomplished in several posts, So, MER – C requires more volunteers both in medical and non-medical fields,” Henry told Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA)’s reporter.

One of the prospective volunteers, Ridwan Ivani (a student from the University of Lampung)  admitted his intention to join to MER- C is to help humanity, increase knowledge and experience as a volunteer. “I joined this training course to help others and seek knowledge, because in the university, I am studying in medical faculty doctor, ” he said.

MER – C is a social humanitarian organization engaged in medical emergency which has trust, professional and neutral  characteristics. MER – C aims to provide medical care to victims of war  and violence at the conflict and natural disasters areas in Indonesia and abroad.

Initially, the organization was formed by a group of the University of Indonesia’s students who gave help of  medical treatments to victims of Mollucas conflict in August 1999 . MER-C now sends  medical teams to various regions of conflict of war, humanitarian crisis , disaster areas around the world .

MER-C also participated in international humanitarian missions to open Israeli occupation blockade of the Gaza Strip, Palestine, by participating in the 2010 Mavi Marmara ship convoy.

With Rahmatan lil Alamin(Blessings to the whole universe and its contents) principle, the organization gives aid to all people without  regarding any background, sect, nationality , ethnicity, politics and religion. ( L/P04/P09/E01) .
