ISRAEL APOLOGIZED TO TURKEY ON MAVI MARMARA ATTACK

Jerusalem, 11 Jumadil Awwal 1434/23 March 2013 (MINA) – Israel officially admitted their mistakes by apologizing to Turkey over the aid ship Mavi Marmara attack on May 31, 2010 ago.

This acknowledgment was announced by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Prime Minister of Turkey Cecep Tayib Erdogan on Friday (22/3) while talking on the phone.

Israel admitted to kill at least nine volunteers from Turkey in a naval attack on the Mavi Marmara which bound for Gaza, Palestine to provide humanitarian assistance in the region.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed an apology to the Turkish people for the mistakes of his government that has caused the loss lives of Turks volunteers in the attack in May 2010,” said Maan as monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).

Meanwhile, Erdogan stated to receive the apology as long as they are willing to pay for all damages suffered by the victims of the attacks that have been proposed before.

Since the incident, the Turkish-Israeli relations became dormant. Turkey recalled its ambassador from Israel and expeled the Israeli ambassador in Ankara. As a result, all Israeli diplomatic and trade access in Turkey are closed.

Mavi Marmara was a combined fleet of 9 ships humanity (3 passenger ships and 6 cargo ships) incorporated in the mission of Freedom Frotilla, which brought 700 volunteers from 36 countries. Armed with the motto of “Palestine Our Route Humanitarian Aid Our Load”. They departed from Turkeys harbour toward Gaza.

UN Human Rights Council Fact Finding Mission for the Mavi Marmara has conducted an investigation into the case and the results of the investigation have also been reported. The conclusion of the team is the Israeli army raid on Freedom Flotilla group was Brutal’, disproportionate, violate international law, international human rights and international humanitarian law. The team is getting a lot of evidences that there has deliberated murder, persecution and torture against the volunteers.

However, Israel did distortion and the formation of public opinion in favor of his unilateral. They said that the main sponsor of the Freedom Flotilla is IHH, a Turkish humanitarian agencies as an organization accused a “terrorists” who spread hatred and violence. In fact, the track record for IHH is known as a humanitarian organization that helps all people and nations on five continents who are being victims of natural or social disasters, conflict and war.
