Jakarta, MINA – Indonesia’s National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) aims to collect Rp515 billion ($33 million) in zakat, infaq, and sadaqah (ZIS) during Ramadan 2026, the agency announced Tuesday.
BAZNAS Chairman Noor Achmad said the target reflects growing public and corporate participation in organized zakat contributions and is intended to expand assistance for eligible beneficiaries across the country.
“In recent years, more companies have committed to paying zakat through BAZNAS. This has given us confidence to set a Rp515 billion target,” Noor said.
He emphasized that zakat serves not only as a religious obligation but also as a collective tool to address poverty and social inequality.

BAZNAS expects Ramadan to drive higher participation from individuals and institutions, traditionally the peak period for zakat contributions in Indonesia.
The funds will be managed transparently and allocated to programs with direct social impact, including social assistance, healthcare, education, economic empowerment, and disaster relief, Noor said.
BAZNAS is Indonesia’s official state-backed zakat body and plays a central role in coordinating Islamic social funds nationwide.[]
