Jakarta, MINA — Indonesian Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar reaffirmed Indonesia’s continued support for Palestine during a meeting with Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Zuhair Al-Shun at Jakarta’s Istiqlal Mosque on Monday.

Al-Shun expressed condolences over recent disasters in Aceh and other parts of Sumatra, conveying sympathy for affected communities.

Nasaruddin welcomed the remarks and said the exchange reflected longstanding humanitarian ties between Indonesia and Palestine.

He said Indonesia remains committed to supporting Palestinians through humanitarian and educational initiatives, including scholarship opportunities for Palestinian students at Indonesia’s 58 state Islamic higher education institutions.

Nasaruddin also cited plans to develop international Islamic boarding schools as part of Indonesia’s broader effort to promote moderate Islamic education.
