Humanitarian Aid of Food Flotilla For Myanmar Arrives in Bangladesh

Chittgong, Bangladesh, 16 Jumadil Awwal 1438/14 Februari 2017 (MINA) – The humanitarian aid by the Nautical Aliya vessel in the mission of “Food Flotilla for Myanmar” arrived in Chittagong port, Bangladesh, Tuesday (14/2).

Reporter of Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA), Nurhadis, who is also participated in the mission reported, Bangladesh government only allowed 25 volunteers and carrying humanitarian assistance to hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees who crossed the border from Myanmar to Bangladesh. They would perform handing over ceremony of the relief.

Nurhadis said the permitted list consisted of five of KP1M, five of MAPIM, and 15 others are from Malaysia’s media. While members of the media from Indonesia and Thailand are not being allowed following the ceremony.

Hadis also reported the remarks of the government of Bangladesh is quite good rather than during Myanmar government. They provided tents five units of tents with a special seat in the front.

“Until now, 25 people are getting down to follow the ceremonial, “said Nurhadis.

Participants from Sweden, Abdullah expressed his disappointment to some reporters, saying that he was joining in the committee since the first time the mission was initiated.

Meanwhile, as reported in a previous news in MINA, there are three places of refugee camps which will receive the aids ; Leda camp, Musuni, and Ukiya Kutopalong camps.

The number of refugees in Leda are  2,200 family plus 1,586 new families, then in Musuni are 1,600 families. While in Kutupalong are 6347 families and 5,700 new displaced families.

A total of 17.433 families will receive packages of food aid, medical threatment, blankets, and clothing.

In addition, the assistance will also be distributed to the people of Bangladesh nearby the refugee camps.

Food Flotilla, carrying some 185 volunteers from 11 countries representing 31 NGOs, including Aqsa Working Group (AWG) Jama’ah Muslimin (Hizbullah) from Indonesia. Sailing since February 3 towards Myanmar and Bangladesh to provide food aid, but its primary purpose is to open the heart, the Government of Myanmar to treat the Rohingya as Myanmar nationals to another.(L/R04/P02)
