Madinah, MINA – A heatwave is currently sweeping Madinah, with temperatures reaching 36 degrees Celsius. Hajj authorities are now urging pilgrims to be careful and watch for signs of dehydration and fatigue while performing their worship in the Holy City.

The intense heat during the daytime and into the afternoon is a real challenge, especially for elderly pilgrims and those with existing health conditions.

Hajj officials are advising pilgrims to limit outdoor activities and to use umbrellas, hats, and sunglasses to protect themselves from direct sunlight.

The Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH) has also stepped up its protection services for pilgrims. This includes helping them move from buses to their accommodations, providing extra support for the elderly, and making sure drinking water is available at key locations.

These measures are being taken to help keep pilgrims stable and healthy amid the extreme temperatures.

Health workers point out that dehydration can happen without people even realizing it, especially when the body loses fluids quickly. Pilgrims are being reminded to drink water regularly and not wait until they feel thirsty. They should also avoid overexerting themselves, like walking long distances under the blazing sun, even when heading to the Prophet’s Mosque.

Saudi hajj authorities are also suggesting that pilgrims plan their worship schedule more wisely. It is better to do outdoor activities in the early morning or evening and to focus on obligatory prayers rather than optional ones that might drain their energy.

Hajj health observers predict that temperatures in Madinah could rise even further in the coming weeks, possibly exceeding 40 degrees Celsius as the hajj season reaches its peak. So staying disciplined about health is essential if pilgrims want to perform their worship safely and with full devotion.[]
