Gaza, MINA – The Hamas Movement has concluded a round of national dialogue in Cairo with Fatah and other Palestinian factions, with participants agreeing to continue discussions aimed at reaching common ground on key national issues.
In a statement released on Saturday, Hamas said its delegation, led by Zaher Jabarin and including Political Bureau members Husam Badran and Ghazi Hammad, had held a series of meetings in the Egyptian capital in recent days.
The discussions focused on reorganizing Palestinian national institutions and exploring ways to establish a foundation for national partnership among Palestinian factions.
According to Hamas, participants stressed the importance of overcoming obstacles that had hindered previous rounds of dialogue. They agreed to continue consultations until a common understanding could be reached on outstanding issues.

The Hamas delegation emphasized that comprehensive national dialogue remained the way to address Palestinian national concerns and confront what the movement described as Israeli schemes.
The delegation also highlighted the need for a shared vision to rebuild and reform the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), including political and administrative arrangements that would ensure the participation of all Palestinian forces and factions.
The Cairo talks form part of longstanding efforts to achieve Palestinian reconciliation, following years of division between Hamas and Fatah. The split deepened after Hamas won the 2006 Palestinian legislative elections and took control of the Gaza Strip in 2007, while the Palestinian Authority continued to administer parts of the occupied West Bank.
Several reconciliation initiatives have since sought to bridge differences between the two main Palestinian factions, but disagreements over governance, security arrangements, elections, and the political future of the Palestinian territories have repeatedly complicated those efforts.

The latest discussions come amid the continuing war in Gaza and escalating tensions in the occupied West Bank, renewing calls for a unified Palestinian leadership and a coordinated national strategy.
The PLO, which is dominated by Fatah, has long been recognized internationally as the representative of the Palestinian people. Hamas and other factions have called for its reform to broaden political representation and enable all Palestinian groups to participate in national decision-making.
However, significant challenges remain, including disagreements over the role of armed resistance, the future of the Palestinian Authority, and the organization of Palestinian elections.
The latest round of talks reflects a renewed effort to establish common ground among Palestinian factions. Whether the dialogue leads to a lasting reconciliation will depend on the parties’ ability to translate their stated commitments into concrete political and institutional agreements.[]
