Cairo, MINA – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Sunday called for Israel’s full withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the reopening of the Rafah border crossing in accordance with last year’s ceasefire agreement, Anadolu Agency reported.
The remarks came during Abdelatty’s meeting in Cairo with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, where the two officials discussed bilateral relations and key regional developments, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, as well as avenues to expand cooperation in political and economic fields.
The talks also addressed developments in the Gaza Strip, Sudan, the Horn of Africa, and Egypt’s water security, according to the statement.

Abdelatty welcomed Egypt’s participation in US President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace,” an international organization aimed at promoting stability, restoring good governance and the rule of law, and achieving sustainable peace in conflict-affected or conflict-prone regions.
He stressed the importance of implementing the commitments of the second phase of Trump’s Gaza plan, supporting a national committee tasked with administering Gaza, and ensuring the rapid deployment of an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire.
The Egyptian foreign minister further emphasized the need to reopen the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt in both directions and to secure Israel’s withdrawal from the enclave to facilitate early recovery and reconstruction efforts.
Meanwhile, Israel’s Army Radio reported on Sunday that Washington has reached an understanding with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the reopening of the Rafah crossing, a critical lifeline for humanitarian aid entering Gaza.
