COOKING GAS PUMPED INTO GAZA THROUGH KAREM ABU SALEM CROSSING
Gaza City, 22 Ramadan 1434/30 July 2013 (MINA) – The Israeli occupation authorities, on Thursday, opened Karem Abu Salem terminal to allow the vehicles carrying basic supplied into the Gaza Strip.
“Israel allowed 340 vehicles carrying goods and basic supplies for the commercial, agricultural and transportation sectors to get into the Gaza Strip,” Raed Fattouh, Chairman of the Coordination Committee for the entry of goods in to the Gaza Strip, said. “Twenty vehicles carried concrete needed for the commercial sector,” added Fattouh.
Only few amounts of the cooking gas were pumped into the coastal enclave, and raw materials, which belong to the international organisations working in the Gaza Strip, entered Gaza, he said.
Karem Abu Salem is the only terminal with Israel, through which fuel and goods enter the Gaza Strip. It is closed each Friday and Saturday per week, according to Aresalah report monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).
20 vehicles, belonging to the commercial sector, carried raw materials: cement and iron, necessary for the construction . Only limited amounts of cooking gas will be allowed into Gaza, as well.
Israel allowed 254 vehicles to get into the Gaza Strip on Thursday, which meets the demands of few numbers of Gazans only. Israeli occupational authorities opened Karem Abu Salem crossing to allow the entry of aid and fuel.
Raed Fatouh, Gaza Crossing official, said “Israel decided today to open Karem Abu Salem crossing located in the south part of Gaza Strip to allow the entry of 240-250 vans loaded with aid and goods for agricultural and commercial sectors including nine vans carrying cement for UNRWA projects, while limited quantities of cooking gas will be pumped.
Fatouh pointed out that two vans loaded with flowers will be exported to Europe. Israeli occupation authorities had opened yesterday the Karem Abu Salem crossing to allow the entry of 228 trucks including 33 truckloads of wheat and 6 truckloads of “UNSAID” cement.(T/P02/E1)
