Gaza, MINA – Abu Obeida, spokesman for al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas, has reflected on the events of October 7, 2023, describing them as a “watershed moment that shattered the Israeli occupation’s deterrence system and dealt a severe blow to its military and security establishment.”

Abu Obeida made the remarks on the third anniversary of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on Wednesday.

“The October 7th operation has constituted a ‘military miracle,’ marked by sophisticated planning, precise execution, and tactical deception that effectively exploited the occupation’s vulnerabilities and its leadership’s arrogance and underestimation of its opponents,” Abu Obeida said.

Addressing Gaza residents, Abu Obeida highlighted their immense sacrifices over three years of war, calling their steadfastness an “integral part of the post-October 7 reality.” Abu Obeida described the sacrifices made by Palestinians in Gaza as an “act that will remain etched in Palestinian memory.”

The spokesman added that the besieged enclave of Gaza played a central role in laying bare the international community’s complicity and impotence and bringing the Palestinian cause back to the forefront of global attention.

The October 7, 2023, operation, known as Al-Aqsa Flood, was a cross-border attack led by Hamas and other Palestinian factions on Israeli military bases and settlements near the Gaza border.

The operation resulted in the deaths of around 1,200 Israelis and the capture of over 250 hostages. Israel responded with a massive military campaign on Gaza that has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and injured over 175,000, while around 90% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been destroyed.[]
