Ratu Inoke to Attend Talks on Security in Indonesia

 

Suva, MINA — Fiji is being represented at a ministerial meeting in In­donesia which is discussing issues affecting the Asia-Pacific region.

Minister of Defence and National Security, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola has arrived in Bali for the Seventh Ministerial Conference on the Bali Process on People Smuggling, Trafficking in Persons and Related Transnational Crime, Fiji Sun reported Monday.

The ministerial conference would be attended by 45 member coun­tries and three member organi­sations of the Bali Process and a number of observing countries and organisations.

The Bali Process is a forum com­prising ministers from the Asia-Pacific region responsible for security to discuss Government initiatives and other efforts made to combat modern slavery, human trafficking and forced labour in­cluding pertinent transnational crime challenges confronting de­veloping states.

It is a platform for holding bilat­eral talks on security co-operation among developed and developing countries.

Australian Foreign Minister Jul­ie Bishop and Foreign Minister of Indonesia Retno Marsudi are co-chairs for the high-level meeting. (T/RS5/RS1)
