House Questions Yudi Latif`s Resignation from BPIP

Jakarta, MINA — Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) Taufik Kurniawan expressed shock and questioned the resignation of Yudi Latif from the post of head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), Antara News reported.

The House vice chairman remarked that Latif took the initiative to resign from the post when the BPIP came under the spotlight of some circles.

“Yudi Latif resigned at a time when the BPIP came under the spotlight over salaries and financial rights of the institution`s Steering Board that could trigger a polemic and public discussions,” Taufik remarked here on Friday.

He noted that the BPIP had recently come under the spotlight in connection with the salaries of its officials, especially the BPIP Steering Board, but the matter subsided, and the government had offered a clarification.

However, Latif suddenly resigned as the BPIP head, so the House vice chairman questioned what had really transpired within the institution as the resignation gave the impression of some internal problems.

Earlier on Friday morning, Latif, through his “Yudi Latif Dua” Facebook account, made a public announcement of his resignation from the post of BPIP head.

Extending his gratitude to the public, Latif announced his resignation by describing the work done for a year since the establishment of the BPIP, which was formerly called the Working Unit of President-Pancasila Ideology Development (UKP-PIP).

Latif then highlighted several obstacles he had encountered, ranging from slow execution of budgets, the absence of a direct execution authority when the BPIP was still called UKP-PIP, and limited ability to optimize the creation of manpower, to unacceptable financial rights of all personnel in the Board of Directors and implementation of work for a year.

At the end of his announcement, Latif said he had resigned since he felt the need for a new leadership of the UKP-PIP body that had transformed into BPIP.

Latif then expressed his deepest gratitude for the participation of all parties in mainstreaming Pancasila in the day-to-day lives of the people.

“Furthermore, it must be said that the transformation of UKP-PIP into BPIP brought about a major change in the organizational structure, role, and function of the institution,” he pointed out. (T/RS5/RS1)
