2019 Islamic Book Fair Offcially Opened at Jakarta

Jakarta, MINA – Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), Syafruddin officially opened the 2019 Islamic Book Fair (IBF) at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday.

IBF is an Islamic book exhibition that routinely held by the DKI Jakarta Association of Publishers. Bearing the theme “Islamic Literacy for the Glory of the Nation”, this exhibition taking place from Wednesday 27 February to Sunday 3 March 2019.

“With the 2019 Islamic Book Fair exhibition, it is expected to create a culture of reading in the community,” Syafruddin said in front of hundreds of participants who attended the opening of the 2019 IBF.

In his remarks, Syafruddin invited all parties from the general public to government officials to attend and enliven the 2019 Islamic Book Fair.

“Police, TNI, officials, including in the ministry that I lead to attend this event, in order to cultivate reading habits,” said Syafruddin.

According to Syafruddin, one of the signs of an advanced civilization is the culture of reading habits. This, he said, was in harmony with the revelations that first came down to the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam.

“The first revelation to go down is ‘iqra’ which has the meaning to read. Since then Islamic civilization has continued to progress. This is proof of the importance of reading, “he said.

He continued, the progress of Islamic civilization continued to develop until the time of Abbasid Dynasty. At that time, the largest library was established, namely Baitul Hikmah.

“If Muslims are united, and we are trying to dig back the efforts made by Islamic leaders, surely we will create new superior figures,” he said.

Moreover, in creating new superior, it can not be separated from the three cultures namely reading, writing and writing culture.
