Geneva, MINA – Indonesia and the Netherlands have officially become co-hosts of the UN Peacekeeping Ministerial (UNPM) 2027, which will be held in Jakarta in the fourth quarter of 2027.
The designation was made during a meeting of the Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations at UN Headquarters in New York on September 17, 2026. The handover of the host role was made from Germany, which hosted UNPM 2025, to Indonesia and the Netherlands.
For Indonesia, hosting UNPM 2027 is an important momentum to strengthen international support for UN peacekeeping operations. The forum also provides an opportunity to discuss personnel safety, resource needs, and enhancing peacekeeping mission capabilities.
Indonesia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Umar Hadi, said on Saturday (September 19) that Indonesia, through co-leadership with the Netherlands, will encourage inclusive international cooperation and ensure that UN peacekeeping operations remain effective, responsive, and adequately resourced.

Indonesia has extensive experience in UN peacekeeping missions. Since first deploying troops through the United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF) in Sinai, Egypt, in 1957, Indonesia has sent more than 60,000 personnel to various peacekeeping missions around the world.
The UN Peacekeeping Ministerial is a forum held approximately every two years to bring together UN member states to discuss political support, personnel, equipment, training, and capabilities for peacekeeping missions.
The event in Jakarta is expected to strengthen cooperation among member states, troop-contributing countries, and the UN in addressing increasingly complex peacekeeping challenges.[]
