World Humanitarian NGOs Discuss the Real Action of Rohingya Solidarity in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, MINA – The Malaysian Consulative Council for Islamic Organization (MAPIM) with the Malaysian Youth and International Youth Center Committee held a meeting of the NGO’s “Regional NGO Strategic Meeting On The Rohingya Issue” at the International Youth Center Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

The event was attended by representatives from dozens of NGOs / NGOs in various countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Turkey, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Singapore, India, including representatives from Ethnic Muslim Rohingya held Monday-Tuesday, 2-3 October 2017.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of international organizations such as the United Nations (UN), the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the Asian Youth Council (AYC) , and ASEAN.

Nurhadis said the meeting with the theme “Solidarity with Rohingya for Justice and Peace” is aimed at designing real strategies and plans to address the humanitarian crisis experienced by Rohingya, by synergizing regional and international NGOs.

“This meeting discussed recent situation in Arakan and Bangladesh, Myanmar crisis analysis, Rohingya humanitarian NGO experience, and advocacy in handling Rohingya crisis,” he explained.

MAPIM President Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid in his speech said, the meeting was not just a presentation by condemning Myanmar, but there must be real action.

“What we must do for Ethnic Rohingyas, because they need peace and justice, it is hoped that the proposal will be a real action,” he said.

The president of MAPIM also said that murder, arson, rape, is still ongoing.

So are the refugees who are still growing. Since the Burmese military launched a military operation on August 25, there were 500,000 refugees and an estimated 20,000 people per day crossed the Naf river to flee to Bangladesh which left hundreds dead while trying to cross other than food and beverage shortages.(LT/R04/RS5)
