UEA Celebrates 48th National Day in Jakarta

Jakarta, MINA – The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Indonesia celebrated the 48th UAE National Day on Monday, December 2, 2019, at Jakarta.

The UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammed Abdulla Al-Ghfeli in his remarks said that on each December 2, the government reflects the achievements of his country and what they need to achieve in the coming year.

“The UAE is moving towards realizing its vision in all fields in 2021, to make the UAE the best country in the world on its 50th national day,” Ambassador Abdulla Al-Ghfeli said.

Indonesian Minister of Internal Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning Sofyan Djalil, officials and national figures, as well as a number of ambassadors from friendly countries, attended the celebration.

Ambassador Abdulla Al-Ghfeli explained that 2019 was named by the UAE as the Year of Tolerance. At present, UAE citizens come from 200 different nationalities who live in an atmosphere of openness, mutual respect, and coexistence based on the principle of tolerance.

In the same year, Pope Francis visited the UAE with Shaykh al-Azhar Ahmad Al-Tayeb to sign the document “Human Brotherhood for World Peace and Living Together”.

The document confirms the UAE’s determination to instill the spirit of tolerance in society, build the culture of openness and dialogue, and reject all types of discrimination based on religion, gender, race, color or language.

In addition, he continued the UAE pays special attention to the empowerment of women. To note, one-third of the UAE Government Cabinet is women. Women’s representation in the Federal National Council currently reaches 50 percent. (T/Sj/P2)
