Ankara, 4 Shawwal 1436/20 July 2015 (MINA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday has condemned the deadly explosion that killed 27 people and wounded nearly 100 others in the southern province of Sanliurfa.

“The death of citizens and the critical number of the injured as a result of this terror act saddens us,” Erdogan said in press conference in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Anadolu Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

In his remarks, Erdogan condemned and cursed the perpetrators of the attack, which he described as an “atrocity”.

“Terror should be cursed wherever it comes from; it has no religion, race, nationality and land,” said Erdogan, offering condolences to the slain nationals and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded.

At least 27 people were killed in the blast in the Turkish border district of Suruc in Sanliurfa, which borders Syria.

“The death toll is feared to rise,” the Interior Ministry said Monday, adding that nearly 100 people were under treatment at Suruc and Sanliurfa state hospitals.

Following the explosion, the Turkish Interior Ministry called for calm and pledged to find the perpetrators of the attack.  (T/P010/R04)
