SUICIDE ATTACK NEAR NATO TROOPS CONVOY IN CAPITAL KABUL

 

       Kabul, 6 Rajab 1434/16 May 2013 (MINA) – An explosion rocked capital Kabul early Thursday morning (16/5), after a bomber detonated his explosives near the convoy of coalition security forces vehicles.

       Kabul security chief, Gen. Ayoub Salangi confirming the report said the incident took place the incident took place in Shah-Shahid area of Kabul city, near the house of Gul Padshah Majidi, member of the Afghan parliament, Khaama Press reported as monitored by  Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).

      Before, a senior Taliban leader was killed during joint military operation by Afghan and coalition security forces in northern Balkh province of Afghanistan on Wednesday (15/5).

    Gen. Zahir, head of the criminal investigation department at the Kabul security commandment said at least 6 people have been killed and around 35 others were wounded following the blast.

      Hezb-e-Islami party of Afghanistan has reportedly claimed responsibility behind the incident.

      On May 14, four US-led soldiers were killed and several others wounded when an improvised explosive device (IED) ripped through the soldiers’ vehicle in the southern province of Kandahar.

      “An Afghan and coalition security force killed a senior Taliban leader, Shah Gul, during an operation in Chimtal district, Balkh province, yesterday,” NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) following a statement announced.

      Gul had operational control over a group of fighters responsible for numerous attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. (T/P09/P03)
