Jakarta, MINA – Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to remain a member of the Board of Peace (BoP), describing the move as part of the country’s proactive diplomacy to support Palestinian independence based on the Two-State Solution.
Speaking Monday in Jakarta during an interview, Prabowo responded to growing domestic criticism urging the government to reconsider its participation in the US-initiated council.
Prabowo said Indonesia’s decision to remain in the body is intended to ensure that the country’s voice continues to be heard in international discussions concerning peace efforts and the future of Palestine.
He emphasized that Indonesia’s involvement reflects the country’s long-standing “free and active” foreign policy doctrine, which seeks to maintain independence while actively contributing to global diplomacy and conflict resolution.

However, the policy has drawn criticism from several groups in Indonesia, including religious scholars, Islamic organizations and political analysts. Critics argue that the BoP could potentially conflict with Indonesia’s traditional non-aligned diplomatic stance.
Some have called on the government to suspend or reconsider its membership, claiming that the council risks aligning too closely with Washington’s policy direction and may offer limited concrete benefits for the Palestinian people.[]
