Jakarta, MINA – The Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) has issued guidelines for the implementation of 2026 National Santri Day, directing that the commemorative series include not only ceremonial activities but also community service and humanitarian solidarity for Palestine.

The guidelines are contained in PBNU Circular Letter No. 3/PB.01/A.II.10.47/99/10/2026 dated October 1, 2026. PBNU Chairman KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, known as Gus Kikin, said on Saturday (October 3) that Santri Day 2026 carries the theme “Strengthening the Roots of Tradition, Maintaining the Integrity of the Nation.”

According to him, the commemoration is expected to be a momentum to strengthen NU’s traditions while also increasing concern for humanitarian issues, including the condition of the Palestinian people.

One of the agendas directed by PBNU is the simultaneous Santri Day Ceremony on Thursday, October 22, 2026. The ceremony can be complemented by the reading of the NU Jihad Resolution text by the Tanfidziyah or NU Autonomous Bodies in accordance with the provisions listed in the guidelines.

The series of activities is also required to begin with a pilgrimage to the graves of ulama, aulia, or NU figures in their respective service areas. In addition, NU members are encouraged to hold social service activities as a form of devotion to the congregation and the community.

Specifically for Palestine, PBNU directed all levels of NU leadership to hold a Humanitarian Mujahadah for Palestine. This activity can be realized through istighotsah, recitation of shalawat, collective dhikr, or other prayer assemblies as a form of humanitarian solidarity.

PBNU stated that the series of Santri Day 2026 activities should be carried out by prioritizing solemnity, simplicity, and service to the community. The guidelines are addressed to PWNU, PCNU, and PCINU as references for implementing Santri Day commemorations in various regions and abroad.[]
