Jakarta, MINA – The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), in partnership with the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS), has distributed Rp22 billion in scholarship funding for Palestinian students studying in Indonesia.

The aid was presented as a show of Indonesia’s solidarity and concern for the Palestinian people’s struggle. The handover took place during the opening of the 8th Indonesian Islamic Congress (KUII) at the Bidakara Hotel in South Jakarta on Friday.

The assistance was symbolically handed over by BAZNAS and MUI to the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdulfattah A.K. Al-Sattiri.

MUI Deputy Chairman, KH M. Cholil Nafis, reaffirmed that Indonesian ulema and all other segments of society have long stood firmly behind Palestine’s fight for independence.

“Yes, from the very start, Indonesia, not just MUI, but all ulema and all components of the nation has supported Palestinian independence,” Cholil told congress participants.

He emphasized that Indonesia’s support goes beyond diplomacy and politics. The country is also taking concrete steps to ease the suffering of the Palestinian people, who have endured years of humanitarian crisis and occupation.

The Rp22 billion scholarship fund is the result of a joint effort between BAZNAS and MUI to collect zakat, infaq, and charitable donations from the Indonesian public. This collaboration shows that the care and generosity of Indonesian Muslims toward their brothers and sisters in Palestine remains strong and unwavering.[]
