Gaza, MINA – A Palestinian woman was killed and several others injured on Wednesday when Israeli aircraft struck a residential apartment near Abu Talal junction in the al-Rimal neighborhood, west of Gaza City.

Local sources reported an explosion accompanied by intense artillery fire from Israeli forces east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Israeli military vehicles also opened heavy fire east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza and south of Khan Younis, the sources added.

The latest attacks come amid continued violence across Gaza despite the ceasefire agreement that took effect in October 2025.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, more than 1,490 Palestinians have been killed and over 5,290 injured since the ceasefire began. The overall Palestinian death toll since October 7, 2023, has exceeded 74,000, according to the ministry.

The strike on a residential apartment in al-Rimal highlights the continuing risks faced by civilians in Gaza’s densely populated neighborhoods, many of which have been repeatedly hit during the conflict.

The United Nations Human Rights Office recently reported that it had verified 1,076 Palestinians killed in conflict-related incidents between the ceasefire announcement on October 10, 2025, and the end of July 2026. The verified fatalities included 268 children.

The UN office also raised concerns about Israeli military operations near the so-called “Yellow Line,” reporting that Palestinians had been killed in the area while carrying out ordinary civilian activities. It called for measures to protect civilians and ensure accountability for violations of international law.

The Israeli military has described its operations as responses to security threats from armed groups. Palestinian sources, however, continue to report attacks causing civilian casualties and damage to residential areas and infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Gaza’s humanitarian situation remains critical. Medical facilities face shortages of fuel and medicine, agricultural activity has been severely disrupted, and thousands of families continue to live in damaged buildings vulnerable to collapse.

International calls for full compliance with the ceasefire and unimpeded humanitarian access have continued as renewed attacks and military fire threaten the safety of civilians throughout the Gaza Strip.[]
