Pakistan, Indonesia Sign 4 MoUs for Cooperation

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Indonesian President Joko Widodo witness the signing ceremony of four MoUs.

Islamabad, MINA – Pakistan and Indonesia signed four Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) for cooperation in energy, trade, training, and education in capital Islamabad on Saturday.

The agreements were signed during the visit of Indonesian President, Joko Widodo to Pakistan along with a high-level delegation, KUNA reported.

The first agreement, signed by Ministers of energy from both sides, deals with the import of LNG and Petroleum, oil and lubricant from Indonesia.

The second agreement is about additional protocol on Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) for 20 new tariff lines that was signed by Pakistani Minister for commerce and textile and his Indonesian counterpart.

The third agreement related to trade facilitation, which was signed by Secretary Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and DG for National Export Development of Indonesia.

The 4th MOU was signed between Foreign Service academy and center for training and education of Indonesia in the field of training.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Indonesian President witnessed the signing ceremony.

Pakistan and Indonesia also held wide-ranging talks on the entire gamut of bilateral relations.

The two sides agreed to give further impetus to bilateral relations by enhancing cooperation in different sectors during the talks.

Earlier, President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain held a meeting with his Indonesian counterpart at the President House in Islamabad.

The two sides agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation to further strengthen defence and trade relations.

Both the leaders stressed that expanded trade, investment and economic cooperation should be a vital element in their relationship.

President Mamnoon said both countries could utilize expertise of each other in defense production.

The two sides also agreed that peace in Afghanistan is necessary for development and prosperity of the region. (T/RS5/RS1)
