OANA General Assembly Holds 16th Meeting in Baku

Baku, 19 Safar 1438/18 November 2016 (MINA) – The Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) held here Friday its 16th meeting.

During the meeting, AZERTAC Director General Aslan Aslanov assumed the three year presidency of OANA at the organization`s 16th General Assembly in Baku.

According to SPA, the organization also elected new members of the Executive Board.

The general assembly decided that South Korean news agency (Yonhap) will host 17th meeting in 2019.

At the initiative of UNESCO, OANA was founded in 1961 with the aim of expanding news exchange among regional news agencies. OANA`s members include 43 news agencies from 35 countries.

At the 15th General Assembly held in Moscow in 2013, AZERTAC was elected – by secret ballot – as president of the organization for 2016-2019. (T/R07/R01)
