Minister Retno: Cooperation of All Parties to Help Indonesia Achieving SDGs’s Target

Jakarta, MINA – Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi has stated that the target of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Indonesia can be achieved by coordination and cooperation of all parties at the national, regional and global levels.

“SDGs are humanitarian projects, siding with prosperity on a global scale. The achievement of the SDGs requires participation from all stakeholders, “said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi during the” UN Day “celebration at the National Museum, Jakarta, Friday (9/11).

Retno, accompanied by Director General of Multilateral Cooperation Febrian Ruddyard and UN coordinator in Indonesia, Anita Nirody, urged the international community to work together on the biggest humanitarian project in the world.

“There is no choice for us, the international community, we must work together and collaborate in achieving the SDGs,” Retno said.

So far Indonesia has participated in all aspects of life. Three SDGs targets, namely poverty eradication, access to clean water and health services.

To eradicate poverty, the decline dropped to one digit to 9.8 percent in 2018. “This figure is the lowest since Indonesia stood,” he explained.

Meanwhile, access to clean water has reached 76.44 percent. While Indonesian health services, through the national health insurance system has covered 77.78 percent.

“99.98 percent of all Indonesians target will be 100 percent next year,” Retno added.

Through the implementation of partisanship and cooperation on an international scale, Retno believes that Indonesia can reach the SDGs target which needs to be achieved in the next eleven years.

SDGs are one of the largest humanitarian projects ever initiated by the United Nations. It was agreed at the 2015 UN General Assembly. SDGs contains 17 global targets covering social and economic development issues including health, education, climate change, gender equality, and social justice. (TL/Sj/RS5)
