“Indonesia is the second contributor of plastic waste in the world. We should be ashamed. After China, we are the second biggest plastic dumper into the ocean,” Susi said in Jakarta, Tuesday, as quoted from Sindonews.

She said that plastic waste will impact on animal life in the sea and affect fish production in Indonesia. “If we don’t do anything, we will have more plastic than fish,” she said.

Therefore, Susi asked community to reduce the dependence on plastic. Especially, in the use of plastic in everyday need, such as plastic bags that are often used by households. According to Susi, mothers can be the pioneer of use of bamboo or cloth to replace the plastic bag.

“Please reduce from ourselves. Use woven bags, cloth bags, more artistic. Those who disagree, sink! That’s for the environment , “he said jokingly. (T/Sj/R04)
