Malaysia Holds International Conference on Defence of Baitul Maqdis and Al-Aqsa

Putrajaya, MINA – ASEAN level Non-Government Organization (NGO) held an international conference “ASEAN Plus NGOs Conference in Defense of Baitul Maqdis and Al-Aqsa Mosque” which aims to defend the holy sites of Muslims in Palestine.

The event themed “Together Defending Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque” took place on Saturday and Sunday, March 23 and 24, at the Jakim Auditorium Islamic Complex Putrajaya, Malaysia.

The conference was opened by the oldest political figure in the world who now serves as Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

The speakers are from various intellectuals and international scholars from Malaysia, Turkey, Jordan, Palestine, and Indonesia.

Especially from Indonesia, Imaam Jama’ah Muslimin (Hizbullah) Syaikh Yakhsyallah Mansur will describe the role of ulema in defending Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The program also invited several NGOs that focused on Palestine and Al-Aqsa.

In recent weeks, the tensions at Al-Aqsa Mosque Complex increased after Israeli Jewish authorities made several complex door closures, banned Muslim worshipers, and arrested Palestinian clerics and residents.

The conference will be closed by Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, a figure who will later replace Mahathir after two years in office. (T/Sj/P2)
